That time again...

Time for autumn to smack us in the face with wet leaves and fire smoke, drown us in fresh apple cider and preservative-laced candy, assault our ears with crunching leaf sounds.

Time to watch the shadows of empty trees grow longer while the days grow weaker, losing their fight with the nights earlier every day.

Time to pretend to be what we're not, and forget what we are, then face the light of day in smeared make-up and rumpled costumes.

Time to race fallen leaves in a headlong rush into winter.
