The Umpteenth Element

Let's analyze the "What Element Are you?" Quiz answer. For lack of anything pressing to do, and wanting to avoid the Motown special playing in the family room. I will use a check-mark system. 60% is passing, 85% is good, 90 or above is uncanny. 45% is so-so, but 30 or below is ice cold.
To review:
Answer: 'Your Element is Night. You're a loner who is very creative but never show your work to anyone. You may smile a little but sadness or loneliness surrounds you and others can feel it when they're near you. You have a dark or unusual beauty that makes you mysterious and you probably have a lot of secrets that you've never told anyone. Your beauty is intriguing and unorthodox but what really makes you special are your eyes. Something in them makes them like "Diamonds in the Rough."'
1. A loner who is very creative but never shows her work...I don't mind if the work is meant to be shown. Some things I do for myself...oh, and a lot of poetry and drawings are private. Exercises for the brain and heart, you might say. So, I'll give this a check mark.
2. A lot of people think I'm angry or sad when I'm not, so I've made a conscious effort to be cheerful, directing, friendly, and interested in other people. It's exhausting. I mean, I like people in general, and my friends are not so difficult to get along with (otherwise, why would I bother, to keep up human-like appearances? please!), but talking about myself, what I'll be doing, etc., unless I'm in the mood, strains my smile. So, I think a half-check, cuz I'm trying to change.
3. *Blush*. I have a lot of secrets, some I don't mind sharing, so then they're not quite secrets anymore, are they? There are some deep-dark or deep-light ones that will go with me to wherever I end up. I think a half-check mark is in order, though I respectfully decline to comment on the beauty thing.
4. Yes, well, the eyes have it. Power, mystery, signs that say stare at me until I suspect you're disturbed, whatever's in there hides from me in the mirror and comes out to bewitch passers-by. It's the one consistent thing that people remark on. That's what the glasses are for...can't have the world's population hypnotized while I have no time to direct them, can we? A check.

Results: 75% is not bad. This is an amusing answer. And the picture is lovely.

Happy Day Of Birth A!

I have found, quite possibly, the best type of non-boyfriend dance partner: my gay friend. At a local bar, with an empty dance floor, we opened the floor and grooved all night long. It served us both well, since neither of us wanted to dance alone, and I like to avoid the grasping, beer-slick hands (and more) of lonely grab-and-grinders. So we started off the dancing at A.'s 23rd birthday party, with her looking modelesque as always, and the rest of us all chic in black shirts and jeans. I envy those with summer birthdays; it seems like the possibilites are endless for activity. By the time mine rolls around, people are short on time, going stir-crazy, and booked for Holiday and New Year's parties. Ah, well, one day I'll spend my birthday in summer...across the equator.

So, another childhood friend has gone and gotten married. I remember when she and I tried on her mother's wedding dress (her mom helped us into it) and took pictures, automatically assuming the dignity of a soon-to-be-wed woman, heads held high, and yet still collapsing into giggles when the sleeves didn't fit her wrists.

Who Spells Khaos Like That?

A Khaos angel, huh? That's kind of...on target. Creepy. I don't usually register the answers to these sort of quizzes, since I usually either pick my favorite answer or pick the one I should do, but I believe every little experience and memory you make influences you, so I hope to remember a question and do the right thing one day.

Let's, for the sake of fun, analyze this answer.

1. I am kind of different, as people usually remind me, but in a good or bad way, I have no clue.

2. I don't think my suffering has been great, but maybe that's still to come...oh joy, prophecies of doom.

3. I am not special. But if I say I am, does that disprove this? I don't believe it. So, I'm stuck being special unless I admit (or believe) I am. What a paradox. Not a lake though.

4. I do want to do so much in this world; I want to save it, I want to surpass it, I want to make a mark, I want to fade from visibility to do what I want. I want the world to progress, and I do to, but I struggle with the changes even as I let them roll over me.

5. Pretty dramatic I guess, though not as much as I used to be. Does that mean my life is dramatic or I just like to pretend it is. I'm pretty up and down, I guess excitable is the word.

6. Not so sure about this one. I'm not really a sunshine type...yes, LB, barring J.'s comment and the man with the chainsaw. I guess I am kind of sensitive to the moods of others, but I don't know if I cheer people up...well I know I cheer a few people up, if they're to be believed. Hold my emotions in? Depends on the type of emotion...hardly ever keep anger in check, but sadness, depression, love, yep, got 'em in my back pocket, sewn in place.

About 4/6, or 66%..not so bad for a paragraph, is it?
Well, I guess that's what you get for answering quizzes.

More Flies...

So, what's new? Well, after my conference in Atlanta, GA (24th April to 26th April), at which I got free coffee (yuck), free glimpses of the Barista championships, and hit on, my next big project is Brazil. Yes, Sao Paulo and Santos Brazil, here I come.

Watch out! Ha-ha! I'm really excited. I'm leaving 23rd May and returning 3rd June. I get routed through Colombia for about 7 hours. I am SO not leaving the airport. But, I guess I get to add it to my map of countries I visited. And, hey, Brazil on business? I am so there. One of our clients has a Brazil-based office, and I'm supposed to charm them into using our software. Because, hey, more flies with honey, right? All I can say is, who wants to catch flies anyway, unless you happen to be a spider, which, I guess I am. Right.

As if that weren't enough, Emblem and I just won the auction for 7 nights on our choice of islands in....ready for it?.....HAWAII!!!!! We are going to H'awai'i. Plus, we get roundtrip air from either LA or...San Francisco! Salvo, we're on our way! We're not sure when we'll be going yet, we'll have to look at the choices and work out our schedule.
